Surf Lessons in Morocco for Beginners and Improving Surfers

Join Sunset Waves Surf for a two-hour surf lesson on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. We are based in Imi Ouaddar, approximately 7 km north of Taghazout, and teach at selected beaches between Taghazout and Tamri. Our surf lessons near Taghazout welcome first-time surfers, beginners and improving surfers who want practical coaching adapted to their level.

Your instructor, Mohamed Bahnini, has seven years of surfing and teaching experience. He begins each session with a warm-up, an explanation of ocean safety and clear guidance on how to use the board. Mohamed then enters the water with the group to coach each surfer during the session.

The beach is not fixed in advance. We select a suitable location after considering your ability and the day’s waves, wind and other ocean conditions. Lessons run in the morning and afternoon, with the exact start time confirmed before the session because conditions change from day to day.

Group and Private Surf Lessons in Taghazout

Group Surf Lesson — $30 per Person

Learn alongside other surfers in a lesson adapted to the experience levels in the group. This is an accessible choice for solo travellers, couples, friends, families and children aged 10 or older who want to learn to surf near Taghazout.

Private Surf Lesson — $50 per Person

Book a private surf lesson in Taghazout for your own party, with focused instruction adapted to the surfers in your booking. The $50 per-person price applies to private bookings of two or more people and includes transportation between Agadir and Imsouane.

One-to-One Private Surf Lesson — $60

A solo private lesson gives one surfer the instructor’s full attention. Transportation between Agadir and Imsouane is included.

Children, Families and Improving Surfers

The same group and private prices apply to children’s lessons, family lessons and intermediate coaching. The minimum age is 10. Coaching is adjusted to the participants’ experience, from first-time board handling and standing technique to greater control, confidence and wave selection.

Multi-Day Surf Lessons

You may choose the number of lesson days that suits your trip. Multi-day bookings receive a discount, with the final price confirmed according to the number of days requested.

Meeting Point

The agreed lesson beach or a nearby meeting point between Taghazout and Tamri. We choose the most suitable practical location for your level and confirm the meeting details before the lesson.

Lesson Start Time

Morning and afternoon sessions are available. The exact time changes with the waves and ocean conditions and is confirmed before the lesson.

End of the Lesson

The lesson finishes at the selected beach approximately two hours after it begins. If transportation is included, the return arrangement is confirmed with you before the session.

Meeting, Transportation and Return

Where We Meet

The meeting point is normally the beach selected for the lesson or a convenient nearby point. We aim to choose a suitable lesson location that is practical for the customer while prioritising the conditions and the surfer’s level.

Transportation Area

Transportation can be arranged between Agadir and Imsouane, including Anza, Aourir, Tamraght, Taghazout and Imi Ouaddar.

When Transportation Is Included

  • Transportation is included with every private lesson, including the $100 one-to-one lesson.
  • Transportation is included with a group booking of five or more people.
  • For a group booking of fewer than five people, transportation may be available for an additional charge based on the pickup location. The charge is confirmed before booking.

Return Arrangement

If transportation is included, the return plan is agreed before the session. Customers meeting at the beach finish at the same lesson location unless another meeting arrangement has been confirmed.

Who Can Join?

  • First-time surfers, beginners and improving surfers
  • Individuals, couples, friends, families and larger groups
  • Children aged 10 or older
  • People who cannot swim may join a surf lesson, but they must tell SW Surf when booking so the session can be planned appropriately. Surf guiding is not available to non-swimmers.

Large Groups

There is no fixed maximum group size. For larger bookings, SW Surf adds instructors according to the number of participants and the needs of the group.

Booking and Payment

Book through the website, WhatsApp or email. Same-day booking may be available when requested at least five hours before the lesson. Customers staying in Agadir, Anza, Aourir, Tamraght, Taghazout, Imi Ouaddar or farther north toward Imsouane can ask about transportation when booking. Payment can be made in cash or by card through the website.

Changes, Cancellations and Refunds

  • Cancel at least 24 hours before the agreed lesson time to receive a refund.
  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the lesson are not refundable.
  • If a customer arrives late, SW Surf may move the lesson to another available time or day, but a refund is not provided.
  • If the planned conditions are unsuitable, SW Surf will change the beach, time or day to find a more suitable lesson arrangement.

How Your Surf Lesson Works

  1. Choose your lesson. Select a group lesson, private lesson or one-to-one private lesson. Families, children aged 10 or older and improving surfers use the same group or private pricing.
  2. Send your booking details. Provide your full name and WhatsApp number. Tell us the number of surfers, their ages and their surfing experience. If anyone cannot swim, tell us when booking.
  3. Receive the confirmed plan. We review the forecast and choose a suitable beach between Taghazout and Tamri. Your morning or afternoon start time and meeting or transportation details are confirmed before the lesson.
  4. Get ready at the beach. We provide the surfboard and wetsuit. The session begins with a warm-up followed by an explanation of ocean safety, board use and the techniques appropriate for your level.
  5. Learn in the water. Your instructor enters the water with you and provides coaching and feedback. A two-hour session normally includes approximately 90 minutes in the water.
  6. Finish and return. The lesson ends at the selected beach. If transportation is included in your booking, follow the return arrangement confirmed before the session.
